Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was convicted of murdering her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015, said in a new interview that she regrets her actions “every single day.”

In the interview with People magazine, Blanchard said that she was “manipulated and controlled” by her mother, who had Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Blanchard said that she was told by her mother that she had a variety of medical conditions, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and cognitive delays. She said that she was confined to a wheelchair and fed through a feeding tube.

In 2015, Blanchard, who was then 23 years old, conspired with her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother. Godejohn stabbed Dee Dee to death in her home in Springfield, Missouri.

Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison for second-degree murder. She is scheduled to be released in June 2024.

In the People interview, Blanchard said that she has been working to come to terms with what happened. She said that she has been in therapy and has been taking medication for her mental health.

“I know that I did something wrong,” Blanchard said. “I know that I hurt people. I know that I killed my mom. I regret that every single day.”

Blanchard said that she hopes to start a new life after she is released from prison. She said that she wants to get an education and start a career.

“I want to be a voice for people who have been through similar things,” Blanchard said. “I want to help people understand what happened to me and why.”
